A Workshop For Those Who Don't Know Their Own Power . . .

The political advocacy workshop prepared by the National Council for Languages and International Studies offers strategies for informed and effective participation in the policy making process at the local, state, and national levels. Areas discussed include the Advocacy Workshops and Letter Writing Campaigns in addition to the following:

  • Discuss current policy issues affecting the language profession
     
  • Learn how to build a strong Political Action Network
     
  • Consider success stories and effective models
     
  • Study advocacy techniques such as:
     
    • Letter-writing
    • Making visits to policy makers
    • Testifying on policy issues
    • Building coalitions with other organization
