What Is Language Advocacy Days?

Language Advocacy Days (LAD) is JNCL-NCLIS’s flagship annual event bringing together advocates from every state and territory to speak with one voice in support of language education.
 

Over two days, participants:

  • Receive federal and legislative updates on language education policy.

  • Join briefings and strategy sessions with national leaders.

  • Meet with members of Congress and their staff.

  • Connect with a nationwide network of language advocates.

Special Student Delegation Rate for Teachers

For LAD26, we are opening the doors even wider to student advocates.

Teachers who bring a group of 3 or more students can register each student for just $50.

The $50 student rate includes:

  • Full student registration for both days (March 9–10)
     

  • Access to student-focused advocacy training and briefings
     

  • Participation in state team meetings and Capitol Hill visits (as arranged)

How the Student Delegation Program Works

  1. Teacher Registers for LAD26You register as a LAD26 participant at the standard rate ($279 members / $299 non-members).
     

  2. Submit Student Delegation Form
    Complete the Student Delegation Form to let us know how many students you plan to bring (minimum of 3 to access the $50 rate).
     

  3. Receive Student Registration Instructions
    Our team will follow up with your discounted registration process and any additional details needed for your group.

     

  4. Prepare Your Students
    We’ll share pre-event resources to help students understand language advocacy, the federal process, and what to expect on Capitol Hill.

     

  5. Attend LAD26 Together
    Your students join you in D.C. for two days of advocacy training, sessions, and Hill meetings they’ll remember for years to come.

LAD26 is designed as a collaborative advocacy experience for both professionals and students.

Travel & Logistics at a Glance

  • Recommended Arrival:
    Most delegations arrive Sunday evening to ensure they are present for the start of programming on Monday, March 9.
     

  • Event Days:

    • Monday, March 9, 2026 – Briefings, trainings, and opening sessions

    • Tuesday, March 10, 2026 – Hill meetings, continued programming, closing session
       

  • Departure:
    Many attendees choose a Tuesday evening departure (after 5:30 PM) to allow time for the final session and any Hill debriefs.
     

  • Lodging:
    Hotel and meals (outside the conference) are not included in the $50 student rate or teacher registration fee. We will provide guidance on recommended hotels.

  • Q1: Who qualifies for the $50 student rate?
    A: Any teacher who registers for LAD26 and brings 3 or more students qualifies for the $50 per-student rate for those students.
     

  • Q2: Does the $50 rate cover hotel or meals?
    A: No. The $50 student rate covers LAD26 registration only (two days of programming and advocacy activities). Lodging, travel, and most meals are the responsibility of the school/teacher/participants.
     

  • Q3: Do I need to register as a teacher if I am bringing students?
    A: Yes. The teacher (or primary chaperone) must register at the standard LAD26 rate: $279 for members / $299 for non-members.
     

  • Q4: Can families or individual students register on their own for the $50 rate?
    A: The student delegation rate is available through a teacher or institutional leader bringing a group of 3 or more students. Individual students or families should coordinate with a teacher or program leader.
     

  • Q5: Is there a cap on the number of students I can bring?
    A: Space is limited. Once you submit your Student Delegation Form, our team will confirm availability and next steps for your group.
     

  • Q6: Are there pre-event materials for students?
    A: Yes. We will provide orientation resources, talking points, and preparation materials so students feel ready and supported.
