Updated: Feb 1, 2021

Update 2/1/2021 this bill was defeated thanks to our tireless advocates! More details to follow

*This is a state bill for Virginia residents only*

We need your immediate help to educate Virginia lawmakers on the value of world languages. A subcommittee in the House of Delegates will consider legislation on Monday, January 18th that would undermine world language requirements.

VA HB 1947 would require the Virginia Board of Education to allow students with disabilities to substitute computer coding course credit for any foreign language course credit required to graduate with a standard or advanced diploma.

Tell Virginia lawmakers that you oppose HB 1947. Take action by registering to speak and submit written comments during the January 18 virtual meeting.
