Presidential Proclamation 10014 will directly affect language programs and language educators for the coming school year
The Joint National Committee for Languages and the National Council for Languages and International Studies (JNCL-NCLIS) is deeply troubled by the continuance of Presidential Proclamation 10014, now restricting the issuance of essential nonimmigrant visas. The restrictions placed on H-1B and select J-1 visa programs specifically, will have a profoundly negative impact on language and immersion programs, hindering educational opportunities for children across the U.S. and further damaging the United States economy by stunting progress in critical areas such as education and national security.
JNCL-NCLIS is taking action to support our members and protect the Language Enterprise. Your organization can help by endorsing below. As an endorser, your organization's name will be added to the list of supporters to be sent to the Administration to show the strong network of support for the J-1 and H-1B visa programs and to advocate for an exemption for language educators. You may preview the letter in the next section.
Additionally, JNCL-NCLIS will be collecting impact data from language programs and will be posting an action alert for advocates to send a letter to their representatives. Be sure to subscribe to our NewsBrief for updates regarding these efforts.
